First stitch: August 31, 2014 Final stitch: January 10, 2016
Dedicated to the many delightful hours my mother and I spent enjoying the peafowl at the L.A. County Arboretum in Arcadia, CA.

Hahahahaha. Just threw away a garage’s worth of these.
My big project that has been going on FOREVER. Down to the last two colors of backstitching... I hope to finish in the next two weeks.
A wee bit of holiday cross stitch fun over the holidays. Found in my stash; the red-on-white was fully worked; the partridge part of the “in a pear tree” kit had been completed before being abandoned. So I worked up all the kits. Now, provided I get them framed sometime in the next 11 months, I’m ready for December 2016.
Just the dreaded backstitch to do now.
So pretty!

Ooh, I like this!
A little process shot: These delicate tattoos don’t all happen at once, they’re built up with black and grey to establish the tones and depth of the piece - then the color is laid on top in a separate session. This was done in two sessions, about 10 hours total - I love seeing the healed black and grey juxtaposed with the fresh color, knowing they will all settle into each other beautifully when the healing is all said and done.
Finished thigh of Towhee Buntings in a blackberry bramble - based on the original illustration from Audubon’s Birds of America, just with a little more depth and saturation. Done at Butterfat Studios in Chicago, IL. More on my instagram, y’all.
Amazing. More bird tattoos please.
